2002: Well, it seem so long ago that we all graced the halls of Oberlin High School. After graduating from Heidelberg College with a degree in Elementary Education, I worked for the YMCA for approximately ten years, doing everything from traditional summer camp to outdoor education (year round programs for schools). I worked first in Bellefontaine, OH, then in Jackson, MI, then in St. Paul, IN, where I was the Program Director for the Outdoor Education program. As I made the decision to leave residential camping (and work relatively normal hours), I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. I had just had major knee surgery (like Jerry Rice- the football player, though my injury wasn't from playing football). I moved back home and rehabilitated throughout the summer. Then I ended up working at NACSCorp in Oberlin for a few years. While I was there, I encountered several people from our high school days, including Mr. Bowers and Mr. Randall. Well, when John and I got to talking during some of our breaks, I began to get more interested in going back into education, so I ended up leaving NACSCorp and taking some classes to get my teaching certificate active. Last year I taught at CornerStone Academy in Elyria (third-fifth grades), and this year I am teaching first grade for the Lorain Community School in Lorain. I absolutely love teaching! I am still single and have a mixed-breed dog. And I am definitely looking forward to seeing all of you again!
