| 2002:
I spent most of my twenties in western Colorado, working as a community
organizer for a citizens group. It was a gorgeous place and I loved the
work but eventually burned out on the long hours. In 1994, I moved to Atlanta
to work on my masters degree (Master of Divinity) at Emory University, and
a couple of weeks after graduation, I married Daniel Orr. His dad teaches
at Oberlin College now, but Danny grew up in Arkansas. We spent our first
year of marriage living and working on an organic farm in Indiana, and then
moved back to Oberlin, where we shared a job at Oberlin Community Services.
Now we are living in New Haven, Connecticut, where Danny is pursuing an
M.Div in hopes of being ordained in the Episcopal Church. Who knew I would
end up a preacher's wife? I'm still waiting to look like Whitney Houston...
Meanwhile, we have two great kids -- Lewis (who will be three in August
2002) and Molly (who was born February 1 of this year) and I love watching
them grow. |
