Greetings fellow Oberlinians,
After leaving Oberlin, I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS in Education. I married my husband John (US Army military officer) in 1983, and we celebrated our 25th anniversary last July. My teaching career has been sporadic having taught and coached at elementary, middle and high schools throughout the world/U.S., depending on where the Army sent us. Some of the places we have lived and/or traveled to include: Israel, Syria, Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland,Wales, Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Tunisia, Jordan, Mexico, Aruba, Martinique, Dominica, Curacao, Cyprus, and of course from sea to shining sea.
I am now living near Tampa, Florida and have "retired" from teaching. I really enjoy spending time with my mum whom you all know very well. Mum moved down here in May 2002 and is enjoying her retirement to the fullest. We are like 2 sisters when we get together and have a lot of fun shopping, eating out, and making up for the 20 years I was away from home.
We don't have any children, but I do have 3 little dogs that we have adopted over the past few years from the local Yorkshire Terrier animal rescue group. They range in age from 3 years.- 14 years old. My husband is now retired from both the military and teaching, and is currently working part time with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Before I forget, I am no longer one of the shortest kids in the class…. I finally grew up to be 7 inches taller than my mother! I now stand at a proud 5ft. 71/2 inches. (I still have the Scottish accent when speaking to my wee mum though).
Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion, or hearing from you via e-mail here.
Anne
