I have 2 children; Jennifer Adams and David Talbot. As a family we enjoy camping and traveling around NM, Girl Scouting, and we just built a new home, so our current "hobby" is turning a yard full of tumbleweeds into a vegetable garden and grass plot – long summer ahead. I am still a Girl Scout – 20 years no! My job is personal secretary, Chief of Pathology, County Hospital Office Manager, Pathology Service. I love to paint, sew, knit, and crafts. We have an open invitation to anyone traveling West.

I married in college - a Big Mistake, but who knew? Married 8 years, lived in Broadview Heights, OH.

I ended up in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1972, after my in-college marriage ended. Drove across the country from Cleveland with a 7-year old daughter, 4-year old son, the dog and the pet turtle. Quite an adventure! Married again for convenience (he needed a Mom for his three kids and I needed a Dad for mine). After the kids grew up, we parted amicably, and I spent some time on my own. In 1983, I fell in love with John Block and we were married in March, 1984. Kids are all grown up now with children of their own. Jennifer (36) is a full time Mom to our grandsons, Christian Dane, who is 4 1/2 and Keller Michael, 1 1/2. Her husband, Lee, is regional manager of a large national electrical contracting firm. They've been living near us for the past couple of years, but are building a house in Castle Rock (near Denver) and will move this summer. Our son, David (33), has a 5-year old son whom we have never seen, since David has disappeared from our lives.

I've been drawn to the nonprofit world, starting out as a Girl Scout leader and trainer when Jennifer was little. Since then, I've been director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of New Mexico, Campaign Director for the United Way of Central New Mexico (raising more than 25 million), Development director for a hospital foundation and even served as administrator of the largest law firm in the state for a few years. In 1997, I incorporated my consulting business and now facilitate strategic planning for businesses and nonprofits and teach fundraising skills and board development basics for clients all over the US and even Canada. In 1997, I published Fast Fundraising Facts For Fame & Fortune, now in its second printing. My web site is http://www.jblockinc.com. John has his own business, too. He develops and sells automotive computer software to the racing industry. He is also the consulting engineer for an NASCAR/ARCA race team (car #57) based out of Charlotte, NC. We block out several weeks each year to travel eastward to NASCAR races, where he runs the show and I help as auxiliary timer and assistant. John's web site is www. Auto-Ware.com.

For Fun: John and I are very active and dedicated volunteers through Civitan, an international community service organization. We are both past presidents, and especially enjoy mentoring and working with teens in crisis, although our volunteering takes us to feeding the homeless, selling Easter lilies for Easter Seals, running a mini-Grand Prix for the Arthritis Foundation and lots of hands-on service for local organizations.

In 1986, John and I designed and built a house on a hill overlooking Albuquerque. We've added on three times since then, so there is plenty of room for Oberlin guests
