I went to Miami University, majored in history and English, with minors in elementary education. After graduating I went to Washington DC, worked in public relations for Blue Cross / Blue Shield, then taught 4^th and 5^th grades in the DC public schools off and on for four years and then got a job as an assistant editor for a transportation industry daily paper/weekly magazine and covered the rail, trucking and inland water carrier industries. That job allowed me to become one of the first female members of the National Press Club.

I got married two weeks before I turned 30. I moved from Baltimore (where I lived after I married) to California in 1976. I have two children, a daughter, 24, who just graduated from law school, and a son, 22, sporadically attending college and selling real estate here in Orange County. I was married for 22 years and was divorced a few years ago. I have been in real estate related businesses since 1980 and am now auditing loan files as a full-time job and selling real estate and doing loans part-time, too. I have taken up golf and like it very much.
