At long last....greetings from the "Unorganized" in New York. Skip and I spent January thru May last winter with our oldest son and his family in Florida, which is a stone's throw from Bonnie (see picture of mini-reunion on Louise Simpson Hendry's page. Use the "back" button to return here.). My place here in upstate New York took that time to become even more disorganized than it was when we left. I had visions of coming back, making lists of stuff to do, doing that stuff and returning to the balmy breezes, sunshine, etc. in Florida. HaaaÉNeedless to say I am still here in Palenville and if gold medals were given out for not being able to find what you're looking for, I would win hands down.
Case in point.....for God knows how long, my copy, less the cover, of "The Big Potato" would surface in my pantry...I'm not quite sure why there....but that is where it would surface and I would think...hmmmm...I should glance at it and reacquaint myself with the story line...of course, I didn't and instead would move it temporarily (temporarily is one of my favorite words like in--temporarily I will put it here till I can figure where a better place to put it is). As you can see rambling is also a favorite thing of mine. Anyway...down at the bottom of the '52 Web page I read "Does anyone recall the story line of the Big Potato"? Of course I don't but I HAVE A Copy of it and down to the pantry I go to retrieve it. The big question now is...why do things only surface when you don't care about them???? I have located a bunch of other things though, for what that's worth.
It is March, winter has been more like late Fall and early and middle Spring, the South has had more snow than we did except if you live in Buffalo, and my daffodils are coming up.
Since Graduation...Monday morning following I started at Troxel Mfg. Co in Elyria as their receptionist, switchboard operator and billing clerk. When I turned 18, as my sister Pat had done a year earlier, I joined the WACs. While stationed at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, I met Skip whose given name is Axel. We married in January of '56 and I left the military in the spring. He came from Brooklyn, New York so that is where we settled down.
Forty-six years later, we have eight children, Rebecca (45), Donald (43), Elizabeth (42), Gary (40), Mark (39), Michael (38), Jimmy (35) and Nancy Eleanor (31), and 19 grandchildren.
Skip spent his working life as a carpenter and worked for 25 years for the county social service department. Most of those years I ran their Child Support program. In 1998 I retired to take care of my husband who is disabled. I read and have passed this passion down to all my kids...
