I've been in Oberlin for 47 of the last 50 yrs. Three years in the Marine Corps and forty seven in the restaurant business. I've been married to the same wonderful woman for 42 yrs. We have three great kids, five neat grand children, an arrogant cat and an ill-tempered Yorkshire Terrier (15 yrs. old). It's been a great 50 yrs.
My wife graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory as a piano major in 1959, later returned to school (1976) at Kent State and received her Masters in Library Science, and became Director of Oberlin Public Library. She resigned her directorship in 1988, but went back in the mid 90's to work part time in the new public library as a cataloguer, where she is still employed, while I, since my illness, am semi-retired. Daily I send her off to work with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (tuna salad on Friday), and a banana or an orange in a paper bag, while I stay home and tend the dog, fight off the cat (who hates me) and listen to Rush Limbaugh!! I do work at the restaurant for a few hours on Friday and Saturday nights.
