Education after OHS
AB from Miami (OH) in geology after a 2 year interruption for military service; graduate work in mathematics at Hamilton College and University of Vermont courtesy of the National Science Foundation while teaching at Lawrence Academy.
Work
3 yrs. with Saga Food Service; 37 yrs. at Lawrence Academy, a private boarding/day school, 9-12, in Groton, MA., teaching algebra and geometry, coaching sub-varsity sports in football, basketball, and lacrosse, dorm master for 10 years, and assuming some administrative responsibilities. Retired last summer to Cape Cod.
Marital Status
Widowed. Married 32 years to a wonderful girl, Kathleen (Comeau), who I met during my second year of teaching at Lawrence, an English teacher and department head for many years at the local high school. Succumbed to non-Hodgkin's disease in 1997.
Children
Paige; property manager in Allentown, PA.; w/daughter Kaitlyn
Mark; partner in an investment banking consulting firm in Boston, MA.
Beth; family and marriage counselor; w/husband Greg and son Alex in Suffield, CT.
Travel
Summer family trips in our travel trailer up and down the east coast, the Great Lakes, and Canada when the kids were small. Trips with student groups to northeastern Australia, Peruvian Amazon, and Thailand during two-week interim periods during the school year.
Current Activities
Making a new home for myself and exploring new opportunities on Cape Cod after moving from homes at Lawrence Academy and Surrey, ME., in August.
Health
I consider myself to be in good health or so the doctors tell me. Working with teenagers over the years has had its rewards.
