After graduation I worked for the Oberlin College library for one year then went to work for the Oberlin Credit Bureau/Chamber of Commerce until 1955 when I went to work for the Oberlin Savings Bank.
In 1959 I went to Miami, FL, got married there and remained in Florida until 1961 when I came back to Oberlin where my two children were born. Darrell, 40, works for a company in San Leandro, CA that makes, operates and repairs remote controlled vehicles that go down below the depth that divers can go.
Sally, 39, lives in Ann Arbor, MI and is the mother of my 2 grandchildren, Nathan 12 and Hannah 11. Sally works in the catering department of the University of Michigan.
In 1974, I married Chuck Bailey, an Oberlin Firefighter. He has 2 children, Alan, 21, and Jean, 47. Alan has three children, Brian 29, Erika 22, and Mark 19.
I worked for the City of Oberlin in the finance office for 25 years retiring in 1992. I can barely believe that I have been retired for almost 10 years. But I love retirement and being able to do whatever I want, whenever I want to do it. I love volunteering. Oberlin has a multitude of places to keep the retirees busy.
My parents are still living, if that is what you call it. They share a room at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Dad, 91, has been there for 3 1/2 years with Alzheimer's. Mom, 90, became a resident there in May 2000 after suffering a series of mini-strokes. Their days of knowing any of us are few and far between.
All four of my siblings graduated from OHS and have had various class reunions. Bob was president of the class of 1953 and was instrumental in the idea of our 2 classes having a combined reunion in 2003.
I am one of a handful of classmates that have stayed in Oberlin, but I really do like it here.
I hope to see many of you at the reunion in the summer of 2002 or 2003.
