
Kathryn Hanmer Mimms
Kathryn "Kay" A. Hanmer Mims, 61, of Elyria died Friday, December 8, 1995, at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a short illness.
Born in LaGrange, she moved from Oberlin to Elyria in 1974.
Mrs. Mims was a 1952 Oberlin High School graduate and a majorette at the school
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria and the church's Altar Guild. She was a greeter at the church.
Mrs. Mims enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and flowers.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Kenneth E; daughters Marcia Dougherty of Pompano Beach, FL, and Susan Mims of Elyria; sons Stephen of Oberlin and Douglas of Elyria; four grandchildren; her father, Merle Hanmer of Oberlin; brothers Clinton Hanmer of Fort Myers, FL, David Hanmer of Wellington and Robert Hanmer of Oberlin; and sisters Naomi McGrann of Richmond, VA, Linda Pleasnick of Amherst, and Nadine Gott of Wellington.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie (nee Neiding) and a brother, Richard Hanmer.
The Rev. Dennis F. Fredriksen, pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ officiated at the funeral.
Burial was in Westwood Cemetery in Oberlin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the church.
