Dick writes (and I paraphrase): I was, or at least tried to be a high school teacher of physics and mathematics--finally "graduated" (retired) in 1989. 4 kids: 3 sons, 1 daughter, all doing well. Two wives, all doing well, i.e. married to someone else these days! Currently employed as a probation officer according to his business card. Other demographic data: Protestant, O-neg, Coors Light.
Mom was a public school teacher in a variety of systems in Lorain Co. She and I attended a reunion at Bethel High School (just north of Dayton), which honored, among others, the 65-year-ago grads (about 12 of them attended). She wanted to go because she was their teacher, her first year out of school at Ohio State U. I was very proud! Mom died in 1993. Dad, the bacteriologist, preceded her in 1985. There is an award given at Glen Helen (Yellow Springs/Antioch) each year in his honor, recognizing years of volunteer work in the Glen. I am very proud of that, as well. How critically important it is to choose your parents carefully when coming into this world.
