New address as of August, 2006: 44 Talmage Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937.
Following graduation from Oberlin College, I moved to Sayville, New York to begin a varied teaching career that included second grade, a special education class, part time in a small college, and junior high teaching. I have a Masters in reading from Adelphi University.
My husband, Jerry, was also a teacher - in a large regional high school where his specialty was local government. We raised our three children in Sayville and were also involved in the building of vacation homes, first on Fire Island and later in East Hampton. Thirteen years ago, after early retirement, we moved to East Hampton and have continued building.
Our daughter Jennifer lives in Colorado. Larry lives in East Hampton and is the primary mover in the building business. Peter lives in Seattle. We have five grandchildren. The oldest is five years old and the youngest two (twins) will have their first birthday in March.
I am a member of both the planning board and a town committee that makes recommendations for open space acquisitions. I am very active in my church, several environmental groups, a volunteer library, and the local trails association where I lead hikes and am a member of the committee that plans new trails. We have always been peripherally involved with politics, and Jerry is a trustee for the sprawling Suffolk County Community College. East Hampton is beautiful, and it's a great life.
